Khan Cottage - Berry

A stilt house which elevates you to the treetops, Khan Cottage enjoys a spectacular outlook. We have 135 acres of rolling rainforest, pasture and creeks, plus a wraparound deck with views which go on forever. The house is a quiet and private retreat. Swing in the hammock with only the call of the Whip birds to disturb you or settle down beside our roaring pot-belly stove. From the deck, hear our rainforest creeks and see the rainforest grow. You will be looking at one of the most successful rainforest regeneration projects in the region. Despite our faraway feel, the restaurants and antique shops of Berry are less than a ten-minute drive away. You are close to Seven-Mile Beach, National Parks, boutique wineries, seasonal dolphin and whale watching and the stunning beaches of Jervis Bay.

Khan Cottage is fully self-contained and includes one queen size bedroom with its own deck and one double bedroom, both supplied with quality linen and towels. The house is lovingly furnished and equipped with a wood-fired potbelly stove for heating, a kitchen, bathroom, sound system and TV/VCR.

As committed conservationists we have entered into a Registered Property Agreement keeping our land safe from development forever. We are regenerating our precious rainforest creeks and working hard to restore the flora on all our property - a pioneering endeavour for private landowners. Ten years ago, our creeks - like most in the Illawarra - were a mass of privet, lantana and other weeds. Today, they are regenerating Illawarra Subtropical Rainforest, an endangered vegetation community. This on-going project (the recipient of a Federal Government Envirofund grant), considered the most successful rainforest regeneration project in the region, is the result of much hard work and is where the proceeds from your stay are spent.
