Return to Pokolbin

The Carriages Guest House is perfectly positioned in the centre of Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley wine country, one Australia's premium wine growing districts. The guest house is situated along a country lane nestled in the lee of a creek in the quiet seclusion of 36 acres with a small vineyard of its own.

The Carriages offers it guests an opportunity to enjoy the tranquillity of an elegant country house amongst beautiful gardens surrounded by many famous vineyards and superb restaurants, including Roberts of Pepper Tree just a short stroll to the property next door.

Six of eight suites in the main building are luxuriously appointed with their own open fireplace and all are decorated in antique country pine furniture, squashy sofas and queen sized beds with feather doonas in true guest house style although every modern convenience is also included just for your comfort.

If wine tasting is not for you, relax by the superbly landscaped swimming pool after a game of tennis or perhaps in winter, doze in a cozy cane chair on the sun drenched verandah, or simply enjoy the romance of the open fireplace in the privacy of your own room.

The Gatehouse is a separate cottage style building with two very private spa suites separated by a beautiful decorated sitting room with an open fireplace and a full kitchen. The Gatehouse is built for the discerning traveller with five star taste and is an adults only retreat.
