Return to Gympie

Views, views and more views! If you are a lover of the Australian bush, a romantic, an adventurer, but not averse to the occasional cafe latte in quaint little cafes or browsing through shops and streets steeped in Queensland history, then the Peeking Possum Bush Cabin at historic Gympie is for you.

The Peeking Possum is situated 10 minutes drive west of Gympie with views over the beautiful Mary Valley to the majestic peaks of the Widgee mountain ranges. Within about half an hours drive is upmarket Noosa to the south, or Rainbow Beach and Tin Can Bay to the east. You can four wheel drive along magnificent Rainbow Beach all the way up to Inskip Point where the ferry goes across to world heritage listed Fraser Island or sail off into the sunset at picturesque Tin Can Bay, safe in the knowledge that your romantic retreat is waiting for you. Return at the end of your fun filled day to relax and enjoy a cold beer or a crisp glass of South Burnett wine on your front deck while you take in the scenery, wildlife, native flora, magnificent sunsets and starry nights. You might even have a visit from the resident peeking possum, rock wallabies or sleepy koalas.

During August the Toyota National Country Music Muster is held at beautiful Amamoor Creek State Forest Park about 15 minutes drive from your cabin, or at other times take advantage of the bushwalking tracks, lagoons and waterfalls which abound throughout the forest.
