Hamlet Downs - Fentonbury

Hamlet Downs in the Derwent Valley Tasmania offers Bed & Breakfast or self contained accommodation.

The restored farmhouse offers some of the best Tasmanian accommodation experiences. It is nestled on 36 acres at Fentonbury hamlet, a 60 minute drive from Hobart.

Guest bedrooms have ensuite or private bathrooms with their own lounge room, dining room and outside verandas. Cooked breakfasts to start your day and a dinner menu featuring our own seasonal produce is also offered.

Overflowing beds of cottage flowers intermingle with native plants. These lead to an orchard and a series of water ponds surrounded by the 1.6 kilometre walking track where you may see our platypus. Nocturnal wildlife is abundant with possums, echidnas, wallabies and bandicoots often seen. Bird watching is a must with over thirty types seen in summer.

We are just ten minutes drive from the gates to Mount Field National Park and Russell Falls. Hamlet Downs is also perfectly located for day trips to South West National Park, Styx Valley, Lake Pedder and the Central Lakes district. In close proximity are the historic towns of Hamilton, Bothwell and New Norfolk. Why not go trout or salmon fishing at lake Meadowbank or the Tyenna River.
