The Lodge at Tarraleah - Tarraleah

The Lodge at Tarraleah is a small luxury hotel in the beautiful Tasmanian highland wilderness. Nine deluxe suites and rooms have been created by Tasmanian craftsmen within the original 1930s Art Deco building.

All rooms feature silk filled doonas and mohair throws over bespoke king-size beds. Some have fireplaces and private balconies. All have original Tasmanian art and indulgent bathrooms with baths, heated floors and luxury toiletries.

You can soak up the view from the cliff-top hot tubs or play golf on Tasmania’s highest course kept groomed by pademelons, with commentary from kookaburras. Stalk the world's purest wild trout, have breakfast with the platypus, track a wombat, walk in the wilderness or spend the day with the chef. Ask the butler for ideas or talk to the last man who claims to have seen a Tasmania tiger - our head wilderness guide.

Enjoy four courses of Tasmanian fine dining, introduced by the chef, and a cooked-to-order breakfast, all included. Spend time at the wall of wine with its selection of over 300 or try ‘kitchen confidential’ where what goes on in the kitchen - stays in the kitchen.

End your evening with night golf in the company of wallabies - or select from over 200 single malts. Or just ponder the closeness of distant stars in some of the clearest air you will ever breathe.

Listed as a ‘Cool Hotel’ by Vogue magazine and recently awarded ‘The Australian Travel and Tourism Award for Best Lodge Accommodation’ in 2008, for the second consecutive year. Also, a Tatler magazine ‘101 Best Hotels in the World 2008’ and featured in Conde Nast Traveller's ‘Hot list 07 – the insiders guide to scene-stealing hotels.’ The Lodge is a member of Select Hotels and is featured by Luxury Traveller magazine as ‘one of the top 20 luxury fishing lodges in the world.’
