This beautiful, fully restored heritage home, (Circa 1874), set in a cottage garden, offers personal and friendly hospitality in central Castlemaine. Wisteria House, one of the grandest homes of the gold-rush period, has been faithfully restored and remains a proud testament to the craftsmanship of the times.

Fourteen foot high ceilings, with detailed friezes, stained glass windows, polished floorboards and antique furniture evoke the best of Victorian grandeur. We guarantee you quiet comfort in our Bed and Breakfast with quality antique queen size beds, private lounge rooms, Cottage gardens, gas heating and air-conditioning.

Our gourmet breakfast was placed first of five finalists in the Coast & Country best B&B breakfast competition, and now we offer a Continental Breakfast to enjoy privately, at a time that best suits you. We also have the Wisteria Book Barn, in a fully restored 1874 Barn on this property, offering second-hand Books exclusively, along with Collectables and Philately.

Guests have a choice of accommodation in Alice Cottage or the Grace Darling Suite, and occasionally, accommodation-In-house, in the Eloise Sophia or Beatrice Ella Bedrooms. The B&B is surrounded by gardens, with an overall emphasis on comfort and privacy.

Alice cottage has a private entrance, lounge, bedroom, large kitchen, superb fully renovated Art Deco bathroom with wheelchair access shower area, and private Tuscany style courtyard with table setting. Children welcome in Alice Cottage by arrangement.

Grace Darling Suite has an extra large drawing room/bedroom with superb glazed chintz curtains, antiques, TV/Video, kitchenette, large separate shower and a private bathroom.

Explore Victoria's Goldfields, historic buildings, Buda House, antique shops, Botanical gardens, sample fine restaurants. We are located centrally in the town, two blocks from the Railway Station and your hosts, Pam and Bob Gaunson, will ensure you are pampered and relaxed, advising on local attractions to ensure an enjoyable stay.
