Tallaganda State Forest And Lowden Forest Park - Braidwood

Lowden Forest Park is situated in the Tallaganda Forest approximately 40kms
south-east of Queanbeyan. This forest straddles the Great Dividing Range
beginning about 10km south of the Bungendore/Braidwood Road, and extends down
the range for a distance of nearly 50kms. A great variety of vegetation is
is reflected, ranging from dry, open woodland, forests of scribbly gum, ash
and peppermint to forests of brown barrel, messmate and ribbon gum. This area
is also host to a variety of native animals. Logging is still carried out on
a limited scale.
The forest route drives are marked by blue and white markers:-
Forest drive route: From Queanbeyan go along Bungendore Road, right to
Captains Flat, follow the Braidwood Road, turn left at Harolds Cross Road.
The junction of Main Range Road and Harolds Cross Road marks the beginning of
the Tallaganda pine plantation and the top of the Great Dividing Range, drive
approximately 2kms and take a left turn at Cox's Creek Road, continue till you
reach Lowden Forest Road and at the end of this picturesque stretch of road is
Lowden Forest Park, with restored water wheel, walking tracks and picnic area.
