Yass Railway Museum - Yass
Yass Town Railway was opened in 1892 after the building of the tramway to link the Yass township with the main line. Just under 100 years after its
opening, the tramway was officially closed.
The Station Building has recently undergone interior and exterior renovation and now houses the Yass Railway Museum and a model railway exhibit which will bring out the child in all of us.
Run by volunteers, you will find your tour guide to be informative and enthusiastic and more than happy to be of assistance.
Step onto the shortest platform in Australia or the footplate of an old diesel locomotive. View old rolling stock that tumbled the branch line many years ago. Learn the fascinating history of the Yass tramway, one of the state's most unusual railway lines.
Souvenirs and refreshments are available.
