Augathella Murals - Augathella

A picture speaks a thousand words. Many of the buildings and fences in the Main Street, Augathella feature a fabulous series of murals depicting Augathella’s diverse history.

The latest Mural explains the 'Smiley' story. For those of you that may not be aware, it was in Augathella that the character 'Smiley', from the classic Australian Smiley movies, was penned and some of the scenes were filmed in Augathella.

The Augathella Murals bring back memories of the shearing industry and quirky Outback events like billy goat racing.

Who is the artist you ask? Answer - The Augathella Community. About 50 community members got together and painted. Their inspiration was their love for the town, its history and culture.
