Balnaves of Coonawarra is situated at the southern end of the famous Coonawarra Terra Rossa strip. We have been operating since 1990 when our first wine was released and were recently recognised as Winery of the Year by James Halliday in his new 2008 Wine Companion. Owned and operated by the Balnaves family, Doug, Annette and children Kirsty and Pete, the vineyard now consists of 150 acres with the original vines being planted in 1975.
In 1996 the family employed talented winemaker Pete Bissell who has since won numerous awards including the Qantas/Gourmet Traveller Wine maker of the Year in 2005 and Jeremy Oliver's Wine of the Year in 2006
