Old Timber Jetty - Bunbury

Stroll along Bunbury’s Old Timber Jetty which stretches 1.8 kilometres out into the water. Catch a variety of fish from the jetty or try your hand at crabbing for a tasty evening feast. Enjoy the picturesque views across Koombana Bay from the historical jetty and see dolphins frolicking below in the water.

Built in 1864, the jetty was initially built by convicts and spanned 420 metres in length. However, over the next 100 years with an increase in shipping activity in the harbour, the jetty underwent several extensions to increase it to an incredible 1,800 metres. Whilst it was officially closed in 1982, today it is still used as a pedestrian jetty.

If you are interested in the history of the old jetty, be sure to visit the Bunbury Timber Jetty Environment and Conservation Museum. Housed in the old courthouse it has details of the restoration work required and a range of artefacts and photographs on display. The museum is open on Monday and Thursday between 10am and 2pm.

Bunbury is a two and a half hour drive south of Perth.
