Bandicoot Bar at the base of the Ord River Diversion Dam wall just outside Kununurra is well known as an exceptional fishing spot. Cast a line into the water from the rocks along the shore line to catch some delicious Barramundi that thrive in the warm waters. Alternatively launch a boat from the nearby ramp to explore the waters below the dam.
The spot is still popular even if fishing is not your choice of activity. Relax in the beautiful surroundings with a picnic lunch, the location provides a spectacular view of the impressive dam wall.
Whilst Bandicoot Bar is an excellent place to catch fish, it is advisable to avoid swimming as saltwater crocodiles are known to inhabit the waters. If you want to swim, you are best to head up to the top of the dam where you will find Lake Kununurra.
Bandicoot Bar is a ten minute drive out of Kununurra. Kununurra is a three hour flight from Perth.
