Moulton’s Cottage near the banks of the Swan River provides the opportunity to discover much about the State’s early settlers. Built in 1841 by Abraham Moulton, the cottage is one of the earliest examples of a settler’s cottage in the historic town of Guildford. Learn about its significant historical value and close association with the establishment of Guildford as an inland port.

Wander through the merchant’s quaint home to gain an insight into how he lived in the 1800s. Moulton was a shipping agent and organised the exportation of many agricultural products. He was also a shopkeeper and consequently turned part of the cottage into a general store for the Guildford community.

The beautifully restored yet unsophisticated cottage is a heritage listed building located in the town of Guildford. It is just twenty minutes drive east of Perth and the gateway to the Swan Valley wine region. The charming town offers many other historical buildings to explore and various heritage walks are available to further discover the town and it’s past.
