The historic village of Wollombi, south-west of Cessnock, has many old sandstone buildings. Tours to Aboriginal art sites in the Wollombi area can be organised through Yarnteen Aboriginal Sites Tours. A museum now occupies the old Police Station and is generally open weekends. Broke is another historic village. Here, there is an interesting pioneer cemetery and several buildings dating back to the 1840s.
