A monument marks the burial place of an Aborigine, believed to have been a Lachlan chief, stands beside the road 40km west of Condobolin. Nearby are other Aboriginal sites, waterholes and grooved rocks. Gum Bend Lake is a small recreation area for swimming, sailing, windsurfing and limited-power boating. Located 4km west, it was created by diverting water from the Lachlan River. Mount Tilga, 8km north on Melrose Rd, is claimed to be the true geographic centre of the state.
