DESTINATION: Eden

Eden

Approximately 50km from the Victorian border, the fishing port of Eden is the southern gateway to the South Coast. A deepwater port and tourist centre with many attractions, Eden has a long history founded on the whaling industry, which flourished from 1818 until the 1930s.

Main Attractions

Eden lies on the northern shore of Twofold Bay. The Eden Killer Whale Museum, in Imlay St, features a skeleton of 'Tom the killer whale', which assisted early whalers. Whale-watching (southern right, minke, humpback and killer), between September and November is very popular; there are 2 viewing platforms along Aslings Beach.

Boyd's Tower; a private lighthouse built with sandstone shipped from Sydney; is a highlight of the southern section of the park. Davidson Whaling Station Historic Site 30km SE on Kiah Inlet is another highlight.
