DESTINATION: Forster TuncurryThe twin towns of Forster and Tuncurry lie at the entrance to Wallis Lake, on either side of the Wallamba River. Part of the Great Lakes holiday region, Forster has long been popular for family holidays, as it is a comfortable 4hr drive from Sydney, and is renowned for its clean, clear beaches, waterways and fresh seafood. Main AttractionsBeach, estuary, lake and river fishing attract large numbers of visitors, especially in the winter months. Local tourist brochures offer tips on where to catch bream, flathead, whiting and tailor. Alternatively, you can enjoy the fresh seafood from many of the local restaurants. The Bicentennial Walk links Forster Main Beach with One Mile Beach. An overall view of Forster-Tuncurry can be seen during this walk, from the Scenic Platform at Bennetts Head. The Curtis Collection; a museum exhibiting vintage to rare modern cars, horse-drawn vehicles, Cyclops toys and gramophones; is located only 3km south of town. |
