Most popular photosNearby attractionsGloucester is often considered the 'Base Camp of the Barringtons', making this World Heritage-listed national park worthwhile exploring from the town. The rivers and streams in the area provide some of the best canoeing in New South Wales. In the freshwater streams fish, including trout and perch abound. There are scenic drives and walks in the surrounding countryside and scattered throughout are picnic and camping spots, and a number of old timber and gold-mining settlements. In the 1870s, gold was discovered at nearby Copeland and the workings of the old Mountain Maid Gold Mine can be seen. There is a walking track from the car park. latest stories
