DESTINATION: JindabyneThe gateway to the alpine ski resorts, Jindabyne lies on the shores of the man-made Lake Jindabyne. The original township was beside the Snowy River. In 1962, to create Lake Jindabyne, the site of the old township was flooded to form a water storage area as part of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme. Main AttractionsWhile being a good base for visiting the ski resorts, Jindabyne also attracts visitors during summer. Activities at this time of year include bushwalking, trout fishing, sailing, sailboarding, waterskiing, canoeing and swimming. There is also a walkway and cycleway around part of Lake Jindabyne's foreshore. |

Kosciuszko NP occupies most of the Snowy Mountains region; in fact it is the largest national park in New South Wales. The park has much to offer year-round, including horseriding, mountain-biking, trout fishing, canoeing and white-water rafting. At 2228m above sea level, Mount Kosciuszko is Australia's highest point. An accessible walking trail crosses the flattened top of the mountain providing stunning panoramic views.
