Moree

Main Attractions

In 1895, the Moree Spa Pool was completed at East Moree and the town became a famous health resort. It was originally thought that the bore water tapped at Moree would be used for irrigation, but the heavy mineral content meant it was unsuitable. The spa complex offers 2 hot pools with temperatures of 41C, an Olympic-size pool, toddlers' pool and junior pool. Rheumatism and arthritis sufferers claim the water provides pain relief.

The town has the largest Aboriginal population outside the major cities of New South Wales. The Moree Plains Regional Gallery houses a large number of artefacts and contemporary works with exhibitions changing every 6 weeks. Moree Regional Library has the largest collection of Aboriginal reference books and information within New South Wales. The library staff continually update and record Aboriginal family history and genealogy.
