DESTINATION: NynganNyngan is the regional centre for surrounding wheat farms, sheep and cattle studs. The town is close to the geographical centre of New South Wales, 603km NW of Sydney, beside the Bogan River. Main AttractionsSeveral public buildings, including the Town Hall, Post Office and Court House are testaments to the town's progressive phase in the 1880s and 1890s. They are all found on Cobar St, which runs parallel to the Mitchell Hwy. A tiled historic mural, located beside Davidson Park, records the history of the town and its pioneering families. Nyngan has an attractive 18-hole golf course and 2 licensed clubs: the RSL and Civic Club on Pangee St and the Bowling Club on Bogan and Terangion sts. |

Local landmarks include the grave of Richard Cunningham, a botanist with Sir Thomas Mitchell's exploration party. The grave is on a station near Tottenham, 70km SE of Nyngan. The Macquarie Marshes is an extensive wetland area on the Murray-Darling system, 62km NE of Nyngan. A large part of this important bird and wildlife habitat is a wildlife sanctuary. Accommodation in the area includes a caravan park and campground, and bunk beds are available at Willie's Retreat.
