DESTINATION: The Entrance

The Entrance

A commercial fishing centre and busy tourist resort, The Entrance is renowned for its fishing, surfing, swimming and picturesque scenery. Typical of many seaside resorts on the Central Coast, The Entrance is situated between the coast and the quiet waters of Tuggerah Lake.

Main Attractions

Pelicans can be seen everywhere on Central Coast waterways and are now the tourist symbol of The Entrance. Hundreds of pelicans gather for the Pelican Feeding at 3.30pm daily, at Memorial Park, off Marine Pde. Another local attraction is the Shell Museum at Dunleith Caravan Park, where local memorabilia and old photographs complement the extensive shell collection. All forms of watersports are available at The Entrance. There are boat ramps on each side of The Entrance Bridge and picnic facilities can be found in the recreation areas facing the lake.

Close proximity to Sydney and easy accessibility via fast freeways has ensured the Central Coast's development as a prime holiday destination. Characterised by large, calm saltwater lagoons, connected to the ocean via a number of small waterways, with an array of excellent beaches on the coastline, this area is a haven for watersports. Swimming, fishing and surfing opportunities abound, charter cruises and hire boats are available on all major bodies of water, and it is also possible to rent a houseboat on Lake Macquarie, the region's largest lake. more
