DESTINATION: TumutLocated on the north-west slopes of the Snowy Mountains, Tumut is surrounded by forests and rich pastoral and agricultural land. The northern gateway to the Snowy Mountains, Tumut is the commercial centre for the district. Main AttractionsThe town's history is reflected in its original buildings, including early homes; the Edmund Blacket-designed All Saints Church (1875); the stucco brick Court House (1878); and the historic racecourse grandstand framed by poplars and English oaks. Fishing is popular given the well-stocked rivers, dams and streams. Other activities available include white-water rafting, canoeing, horseriding, abseiling, hang-gliding and scenic flights.
