DESTINATION: BorroloolaBorroloola is an Aboriginal town on the Carpentaria Hwy, 383km east of the Stuart Hwy, which is popular with 4-Wheel drive and fishing enthusiasts. Tourists do not need a permit to visit the town. Main AttractionsScenic flights can be made over the town and the Sir Edward Pellew Island Group. Fishing for barramundi, trevally and other tropical species and succulent mud crabs is very popular. River and island tours are available. The old Police Station, built in 1886, has a small museum. |

Nearby attractions
Bukalara Rock Formations are easily accessed off the highway at Caranbirini Convervation Reserve. Cape Crawford, 110km SW, is a base from which to visit extraordinary ancient sandstone rocks to the east.
The Lost City in the Abner Ranges can only be reached by helicopter.
