Beaudesert

Approximately an hour's drive from either Brisbane or the Gold Coast, Beaudesert is located in the middle of a vast region of rainforests, valleys and plains in the Gold Coast hinterland. A major market town, Beaudesert is also known for its dairying, agriculture and beef cattle.


Main Attractions

The Beaudesert Historical Museum is located in Brisbane St and is open daily, 9am-4pm. Exhibits include the Pioneer Cottage, furnished in a style portraying early pioneering life, horse-drawn vehicles and farm implements. A prized exhibit is the buggy the Duchess of York rode in during her visit in 1927.

Nearby attractions

Beaudesert is an ideal base for exploring national park areas, such as Lamington, Mount Maroon and Mount Barney. The Mount Barney area offers good walking tracks and the Logan River provides a great swimming spot. A caravan and camping area is provided at the bottom of Mount Barney, although campers must apply for a permit. Tamborine Mountain is a major tourist destination and comprises 3 small villages and several small national parks in centuries-old rainforest.
