This Darling Downs town is 212km NW of Brisbane. The area's rich volcanic soil ensures its prosperity. While cotton and grain are the main income-earners, the economy is broad-based and includes sheep, cattle and mining.

Contemporary Australian paintings are exhibited in the Dalby Regional Gallery and can be viewed Tues-Sun. Located in Black St the Pioneer Park Museum displays household memorabilia and agricultural machinery. Brochures are available from the information centre on self-guided walks and drives in the area.

Bunya Mountains NP encompasses one of the most significant stands of bunya pine remaining in the world. The park features spectacular waterfalls and graded walking tracks, offering panoramic views of the Darling Downs. It is located 66km NE of Dalby. Lake Broadwater CP lies 29km SW of Dalby. The park protects native birds and plants and is an ideal spot for a picnic or BBQ, boating, waterskiing and overnight camping.
