Nearby attractions

Kynuna, 115km to the south, is where A B 'Banjo' Paterson wrote the Australian ballad, Waltzing Matilda. A cairn now marks the spot where events in the ballad took place; a hut used by Paterson can be seen behind the Kynuna Roadhouse. Kynuna was once a staging post for Cobb & Co coaches and the original 1889 bush pub, Blue Heeler Hotel, still stands. West of Kynuna is McKinlay, best known for its pub, Walkabout Creek Hotel. This hotel and other buildings in the town featured in the movie, Crocodile Dundee.
