DESTINATION: MilesThis small rural town is 343km NW of Brisbane. Situated at the junction of the Leichhardt and Warrego hwys, Miles is an ideal stop for visitors travelling west to the Stockman's Hall of Fame or north to the Great Barrier Reef and tropical north Queensland. Main AttractionsThe Miles and District Historical Village features 30 authentic buildings in a re-creation of a pioneer settlement. Original buildings include a church, hospital, general store, machinery shed, dairy and a slab hut. The village also has a war museum, and a memorabilia museum which features an extensive collection of shells, Aboriginal artefacts and lapidary. The museum is also the information centre. |
