DESTINATION: Palm Cove

Located 27km north of Cairns, off the Bruce Hwy, this captivating resort town is situated on a tropical beach with views over the aqua waters to Double Island and Scouts Hat Island. There is a selection of accommodation and many art galleries, boutiques and shops in town.

Nearby attractions

Dive tours to the Great Barrier Reef depart regularly from Palm Cove. Daytrip tours to the Atherton Tableland also leave from here. The town is a convenient base for exploring Mossman and Port Douglas. In Smithfield, 14km south, there is a bungy-jumping tower set in the rainforest. Hartley's Creek Wildlife Reserve, 15km north, has hundreds of crocodiles as well as other native fauna. There are crocodile and snake shows daily. For panoramic coastal views, visit Rex Lookout, 17km north.
