Established in 1849, the town is now the centre for the surrounding region famous for its horse and cattle studs and fine wool. Main AttractionsThe floral emblem of Warwick is a red rose and there are many roses planted around the town, including a display in Leslie Park. Warwick Regional Art Gallery is located in Albion St. Pringle Cottage, built in the 19th century, is open to the public and displays old photographs, vehicles and machinery. |

Most popular photosNearby attractionsFossicking is a popular activity on the southern Downs and visitors can try gold-panning at Thanes Creek, 40km west. A fossicking license can be obtained from the Council. Main Range NP is located north-east of Warwick and is popular with hikers as there are rainforest slopes, open forest and high peaks. The main recreation area is at Cunningham's Gap, where there are picnic areas, a campground and graded walking tracks. Leslie Dam, 15km west, offers watersports, swimming, boating and fishing. There are also giant granite sculptures to see, and picnic and BBQ facilities are available.
