DESTINATION: AngastonA picturesque rural town in the rolling countryside of the Barossa Valley, Angaston is a showcase of colonial architecture. In 1841 the town was named after George Fife Angas an early settler and large landholder. Main AttractionsThe tree-lined main street, Murray St, is lined with art and craft shops and tearooms. Visit the Angas Park Fruit Co and try some of the local produce. Around the corner is Artfully Yours Studio and Gallery for local arts and crafts. A shady park with picnic and BBQ facilities adjacent to Angaston Creek complements the village atmosphere of this little town. |

Around 8km south on the Eden Valley Rd the historic National Trust property, Collingrove (built for George Angas' son, John), is open for inspection, 11am-4pm. For a spectacular view of the Barossa Valley travel 8km south-west of the town to Menglers Hill where there is a lookout and sculpture garden. Wineries close by are Yalumba (2km south), Saltram (1km west) and Henschke Cellars (10km SE).
