DESTINATION: Crystal BrookProclaimed in 1874, the township of Crystal Brook is located where the southern Flinders Ranges begin. Today, the rolling plains surrounding this quiet and picturesque country town produce barley and wheat as well as sheep and cattle. Main AttractionsThe National Trust Old Bakehouse Museum on Brandis St displays pioneering artefacts, photographs and memorabilia. It also has an underground baker's oven, a relic of the building's original purpose. Local crafts are available at Crystal Crafts in Bowman St. Both of the town's hotels were built in the 1800s, and there are many attractive old stone homes to wander past. Picnic and BBQ areas are found in Adelaide Square; in the town centre; and in Jubilee Park. |
