DESTINATION: Freeling

This town is positioned to take advantage of 2 worlds. Its location at the northern edge of the Barossa Valley, close to Gawler and only 60km from Adelaide, means that residents are able to commute to the larger Barossa towns or the capital for employment and facilities, while remaining in peaceful and serene surroundings. The town has an agricultural machinery manufacturer, stockfeed mill and other small industries.

Main Attractions

The old stone buildings of the town date back to the 1860s, and are definitely worth a look. Of main interest to visitors is the railway precinct, which offers guided tours of the railway and town. To obtain tour information and bookings, contact the Council Office. There is a 'town breakfast' held on Australia Day, and Christmastime brings a carnival and Carols by Candlelight.
