Hahndorf

Hahndorf is an attractive Adelaide Hills village 30 minutes drive south east of Adelaide, South Australia.  Hahndorf has a selection of luxury and budget accommodation and traditional German eateries to wine and dine or relax in one of the cafes.

One of the Adelaide Hills's most famous towns, Hahndorf is Australia's oldest surviving German settlement.

Still today there are German influences to be seen in Hahndorf but most evident in the smallgood outlets and German bakeries that line the bustling main street.

Hahndorf has plenty of souvenir shops, craft outlets and galleries, including the Hahndorf Academy - a regional centre for the arts and heritage based in a charming 150-year-old building. Walk through its four galleries, migration museum, artist's studios, art classes and retail gallery.

Main Attractions

The main attraction in Hahndorf is to take a guided tour of the historic home and studio of famous artist Sir Hans Heysen. Children and adults will also enjoy the local Hahndorf Farm Barn.
