DESTINATION: KingscoteThe largest town on Kangaroo Island (110km south-west of Adelaide), Kingscote was actually the first European settlement in the state (1836). Main AttractionsFor a historic look at the town, wander by Hope Cottage; the National Trust and Folk Museum; St Alban's Church with stained-glass windows and pioneer memorials; and the town cemetery, the oldest in the State. There is a variety of hotels, restaurants and cafes in town and for transport; cars, bicycles and scooters can be hired. The carved-out Rock Pool is a good swimming spot; for fishing try the jetty which is great for squid, tommy ruff, trevally, garfish, whiting and snook.
