DESTINATION: Kingston SEThis once small village, located on the shores of Lacepede Bay, is now a regional centre for an area producing sheep, lambs, cattle and crops, with some producers diversifying into viticulture, horticulture and aquaculture. Crayfishing is also an important part of Kingston SE's economy. The town is known as Kingston SE (South East) to avoid confusion with Kingston-on-Murray. Main AttractionsFishing is a major attraction with good catches of a variety of species possible from the surf, jetty or from a boat. The National Trust Pioneer Museum is worth seeing, as well as Lions Park, Apex Park and the Aboriginal burial ground in Dowdy St. Historic Cape Jaffa Lighthouse was moved to the foreshore in 1975 from Margaret Brock Reef. The lighthouse is usually open for inspection on weekends and school holidays. |

Butchers Gap and Jip Jip conservation parks are both within easy reach of the town. The unique rock formation; The Granites; is located on a beach about 18km north. Coorong NP isn't too far either and is renowned for the prolific birdlife on the Younghusband Peninsula. There are scenic drives scattered throughout the region, and Mount Scott CP, 20km to the east, has good walking trails.
