Meningie

Meningie is located on the eastern shore of Lake Albert, about 160km from Adelaide. It is a small rural and holiday town, the service centre for an irrigated fodder-cropping area that also produces wheat, barley, sheep, cattle and dairying. It is also a thriving fishing town and has an abundance and variety of birdlife.


Main Attractions

Perfect for watersports like canoeing, waterskiing, windsurfing, sailing, swimming and fishing, Meningie is in the heart of the Coorong NP. Not far from the town, on Narrung Rd, is a great pelican-viewing spot. Lions Park, in town, is perfect for a lunchtime picnic or BBQ. The Cheese Factory is now a museum and restaurant.

Coorong NP is a major district attraction that can be explored on the nature trail at Salt Creek. This trail displays the diversity of the national park's environment and passes Chinaman's Well, a vital stop on the route taken by Chinese prospectors travelling from South Australia to the Victorian goldfields.
