Minlaton

The town of Minlaton was originally known as Gum Flat because of the naturally occurring red gums in this area of the Yorke Peninsula. Today it is the commercial centre for a thriving agricultural region. The surrounding district is known as the 'Barley Capital of the World'.


Main Attractions

The National Trust Museum, Harry Butler Memorial, a fauna park and Harvest Corner Information and Crafts are all located on Main St in town. Minlaton events of note are the Minlaton Agricultural Show (first Wednesday of October) and the Minlaton Australiana Night held on the Friday before Australia Day.

Several art and craft galleries are located in or near Minlaton. Port Vincent, 25km east, and Port Rickaby, The Bluff and Barkers Rocks are good for swimming, fishing and watersports.
