Nearby attractions

Both the State Heritage Area of Moonta Mines and the old primary school, which is now Moonta Mines National Trust Museum, showcase mining artefacts and memorabilia as well as the history of the Cornish miners. The Moonta Mines Railway Tour goes right through the mine area and is a good way to take in the area's mining heritage. The Wheel Hughes Mine, about 3km north of town, has tours at 1pm daily; bookings are through the tourist information centre.
