Port Broughton | South Australia
Around 170km from Adelaide this peaceful seaside village has much to offer its visitors. The town, built on the Mundoora Arm Inlet, is protected from the Spencer Gulf, and is the home base for a prawn-fishing fleet. The town was named after William Grant Broughton, who was consecrated Anglican bishop of Australia in 1836. Main AttractionsA popular recreation area is the grassed foreshore reserve, where picnic and BBQ facilities are located adjacent to a children's playground. Swimming is possible near the jetty and sporting facilities include tennis courts, a bowling green and golf course. A Heritage Walking Trail takes in the places of historic interest in the town and there are also fishlab tours, by appointment, where visitors can see a variety of aquatic organisms, both plant and animal. |
