DESTINATION: Roxby Downs
Nestled in rich red sand dunes clad in native pine, Roxby Downs is a delightful town. A young modern mining town, it was purpose-built to house and service employees and their families of the Olympic Dam Mining project. The mine produces gold, copper, uranium oxide concentrate and silver. Main AttractionsFrom March to November, surface mine tours depart from the town centre. Bookings are essential. The town boasts a range of excellent accommodation. Retail and leisure facilities include a 3-star motel with restaurant, a tavern, modern shopping centre, bowls and golf course. Visitors are welcome at the community's leisure centre which has a swimming pool, squash court and tennis court. |
