Deloraine Deloraine is a rich agricultural centre nestling in a valley encircled by Quamby Bluff and the Western Tiers and renowned for its stunning scenery. Artists and craftspeople are attracted to the district.

Main Attractions

Deloraine Folk Museum is housed in an old coaching inn (circa 1860). There are many other buildings of historic interest, including the attractive 1853 colonial building that is now Bowerbank Mill Gallery. The impressive Yarns Artwork in Silk, created by more than 300 people and depicting the area's history, hangs in the Community Complex in Alveston Dr.

At Elizabeth Town, 10km NW, English-style cheeses can be sampled at Ashgrove Farm and raspberry products at Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm. A honey factory, Trowunna Wildlife Park and Mole Creek Caves (including the glow-worm filled Marakoopa Cave and King Solomon's Cave) are among the attractions around Mole Creek, 20km west. There are many pretty waterfalls in the district, including Lobster Falls (15km west), Westmoreland Falls (10km SW), Montana Falls (9km SW), Meander Falls in Meander Forest Reserve (22km SW) and Liffey Falls (29km south). A scenic drive south through Golden Valley to the Central Highlands leads to Great Lake, where the trout fishing is excellent.

Deloraine – Landscapes and Bushwalks

In spring you can see the beautiful colours of the cultivated poppies in bloom contributing to the growth of the area, also the crops of potatoes, onions, and carrots are significant for the economy of the district.
