DESTINATION: EvandaleEvandale is one of Australia's most beautifully preserved historic villages, with buildings dating to 1809. It lies in a delightful rural setting, just 20km from Launceston, that has attracted notable artists such as John Glover and Tom Roberts. Main AttractionsThere are numerous historic buildings in the village, and these can be admired on a self-guided heritage walk. Evandale Tourism and History Centre has displays of local significance, and most of the old shops now house quality art, craft and antique galleries, cafes and restaurants. Evandale's famous Penny Farthing Bicycle Race in February attracts many visitors from interstate and overseas. |

Tasmanian Glassblowers is one of several craft shops in the area. Recognised as one of the country's great Georgian houses, Clarendon (1838), with its extensive formal gardens, is 8km south near Nile.
