DESTINATION: LongfordOne of Tasmania's oldest towns, Longford was established in 1813 by settlers from Norfolk Island. Now it is the centre for a fertile agricultural district. Main AttractionsThere are many historic buildings, some convict-built. Christ Church (1839) has beautiful stained-glass windows and is sur-rounded by pioneer graves. Heritage Corner complex on Marlborough St includes Tom Roberts Gallery and tearooms. The Village Green is a popular picnic and BBQ spot. |
