St Marys

St Marys is a small town on the Esk Hwy, 12km from the East Coast, surrounded by glorious mountains and forests.


Main Attractions

Rivulet Park has picnic and BBQ facilities, where sightings of platypus are possible and Tasmanian native hens likely. Historic St Marys Railway Station became the terminus for the East Coast railway in 1866.

The road north to Scamander via St Marys Pass and the road south to Bicheno via Elephants Pass provide spectacular mountain and coastal scenery. There are great views of the Fingal Valley from the top of South Sister, 3km NW. The coal-mining and coastal township of Falmouth, 14km NE, has a number of buildings of historic interest, fine beaches and fishing.
