Anglesea

A popular coastal resort and artists' colony, Anglesea lies on the Great Ocean Rd, 107km SW of Melbourne. Tourism is the main industry of this town with fishing, swimming, surfing and walking popular activities.


Main Attractions

Views of the town, the coastline and the ocean are provided from the lookout behind Front Beach, Anglesea's main surfing spot. The Heathland Cliff Walk also offers scenic views; the walk begins at the carpark at the end of Purnell St. Coogoorah Reserve, located on the Anglesea River, offers waterways, islands, picnic areas, playground equipment and walking tracks. The golf course attracts many visitors for a round of golf and unusual companions; tame kangaroos graze on its greens.

Nearby attractions

Angahook-Lorne SP is close by and Aireys Inlet, 11km SW on the Great Ocean Rd, offers many activities including horseriding. Further south is the Memorial Arch, which commemorates the construction of the Great Ocean Rd, itself a memorial to the Australian soldiers killed in WWI.
