Cobram | VictoriaThis Murray River town is located 250km north of Melbourne on the Murray Valley Hwy. The town was established in 1887 to service the railway from Melbourne. After WWII, the area became part of a large Soldier-Settlement Scheme, which saw the growth of dairy farms and orchards; one of which was responsible for the development of the clingstone variety of peach. Main AttractionsWith its wide sandy beaches, Cobram is popular for swimming, watersports, picnicking and fishing, and for houseboats and paddlewheeler cruises. The town's monthly market is held in Punt Rd on the first Saturday of each month. |
