Cohuna

Cohuna, 305km north of Melbourne, is located in the centre of a dairying district. The region is characterised by attractive landscapes created by the lagoons and waterways of the Murray River, including nearby Gunbower Island, which is encircled by the Murray River and Gunbower Creek.


Main Attractions

Cohuna Historical Museum boasts some interesting exhibits. Each March, the Bridge to Bridge Swim is held, and in February the Aquatic Festival takes place in Gunbower.

Nearby attractions

A bridge connects Cohuna to the Gunbower Island SF, which protects a river red gum and box habitat. Walking tracks and dirt roads penetrate the forest, which is home to emus, kangaroos, possums, gliders and a variety of birdlife. The Wetlander explores Gunbower Creek with regular, 2hr-long cruises from mid-August through to mid-May.
