Flinders

Situated on Bass Strait and Western Port Bay, Flinders is close to both surf and safe beaches and has unparalleled views of Phillip Island, The Nobbies and Seal Rocks. Centrally located near many wineries, the town offers delicious and diverse dining, as well as golf, fishing, and antique and curio shopping as well as a wide range of comfortable accommodation options.

Flinders is a peaceful retreat and a popular holiday retreat that has flourished with architect designed homes during recent years. The local golf club, established in the early 1900s, is one of the most scenic courses in Australia.

How to get there
Flinders is approximately 1.5 hours from Melbourne. Take the M1 freeway from Melbourne, linking with the Western Port freeway and then the Frankston–Flinders Road.

  • Hunt for curios, antiques and artworks in the main Flinders shopping precinct
  • Enjoy a relaxing meal at one of the many cafes and restaurants
  • Play a round of golf on the stunning cliff-top course overlooking Bass Strait
  • Take a dip in the sea at Flinders Ocean Beach
  • Take the self-guided Blowhole Walk over huge bluestone boulders to the ocean 
  • Explore the Cape Schanck Lightstation in the Mornington Peninsula National Park and then take the boardwalk out to the beach and rock platform
  • Walk the Bushrangers Bay Trail – one of the best short coastal walks in Victoria. Starts at the car park at Cape Schanck and walk through fern gullies and eucalypt woodland to Bushrangers Bay
  • Visit Greens Bush in the Mornington Peninsula National Park, an oasis of native forest and wildlife, including kangaroos, wedge-tailed eagles, swamp wallabies, possums and bats
  • Enjoy an ocean beach trail ride on Gunnamatta Beach with Gunnamatta Trail Rides
  • Wander along the beautiful coast around Shoreham and Somers
  • Catch a wave at Point Leo.
