Heathcote

This town, 105km north of Melbourne, is located in picturesque countryside. Heathcote was a creation of the goldrush when the population reached 35 000. Today, its wide main streets with many historic buildings evoke feelings of the past.

Main Attractions

Pink Cliffs, located in a reserve off Pink Cliffs Rd, are a local feature. The ever-changing pink shades of miniature gorges and pinnacles was created in the 1800s by mining activity. McIvor Range Reserve has basic picnic facilities and there are walking tracks to Devils Cave and Viewing Rock, which provide panoramic views of Heathcote and the surrounding countryside.
